Now that Emily is crawling, a whole new world has opened up and she is curious about EVERYTHING. Even with a bag full of toys, she still manages to go for the neatly folded blankets, cords, or blinds. She's too funny. Here I caught her unfolding all of her blankets and towels I just folded a few min ago. I left her alone for a second and found here there lol

Not feeling good :(
Grandma's always know how to make you feel better when you're not feeling good, whether it's with a pot of homeade chicken soup or a little touch of love. Poor emily has been vomiting a lot today. They sent her home from day care. I really think it was something she ate that didn't agree with her. Grandma came over to help and Emily fell right asleep in her arms. She played hard with grandma!

Peek-a-boo
It seems like every day Emily is learning something new. Today she started playing peek-a-boo with me. She held the blanket in front of her face and pulled it down really fast. When she pulled the blanket down, I would say "Peek-a-boo" and she would bust out laughing. We have so much fun together.

Baby Piano & Dancing
I couldn't resist it. I had to buy this little baby piano at Toys R Us. It plays all kinds of music and teaches numbers & animals too. Emily absolutely loves it! It was completely worth it to see her bopping up and down to the music. Now everytime she hears music she starts bopping up and down. I think this little girl is going to be involved with music or dancing when she gets older. Emily is really sitting up good on her own now. It's amazing how fast she is growing up.

Sleepy Head
This morning Emily was in such a deep sleep. I came in at 6:30 like I normally do and turned on the light and found her like this in her crib. I nudged her and called her name and she didn't budge. After trying this a few times without her budging, I took a picture and she STILL didn't budge. Finally, I just picked her up out of the crib and put her no the changing table. That woke her up finally. :) She sleeps hard just like her mommy.

Relaxing day at the park
Today, we took a nice walk to the park. I laid a blanket out near the water and we just looked up into the trees. Emily was so excited to be outside. She kept squealing so loud.

Emily's first cold
Poor Emily, she's so sick. I woke up with her at 1:30 Saturday morning and stood with her in the shower to help decongest her. Mommy and daddy didn't get a whole lot of sleep that night to say the least.
She is feeling so much better now. Mommy & Daddy pulled out all the stops to help her get a good night's rest. We got a nice cool mist humidifier with a vicks vapor pad, saline drops for her nose, and a vapor body wash for the bath. It seemed to work. She slept great last night. In fact, I had to wake her up this morning, which is unusual considering she usually wakes me up everyday around 6:15 am. Glad to see her feeling better. The only problem is I think daddy caught it now. :(

The best mother's day present
My first mother's day was amazing. I enjoyed spending quality time with my sweet little girl. Dale surprised me with Emily in the crib holding her card. She even signed it!! Granted, it wasn't legible, but it was her first signature. He put the flowers in the crib. I am the luckiest woman in the world.

Let me show you my belly button...
Emily is constantly grabbing at her shirt, her bib, you name it and putting everything in her mouth. Every morning we have a little picture session and she smiles so pretty for the camera. What a HAM! :) It was the funniest thing yesterday. The daycare caretaker was telling me about how Emily let out the loudest burp and all the kids stopped and looked at her. When she was telling me about it, I started laughing and Emily busted out laughing too. She laughed because mommy was laughing. Then it was a chain reaction - I started laughing at her laughing, she laughed at me laughing, and so on...This little girl is too cute.

Milestone: Emily Rolled over!!
Emily hit a new milestone today- she rolled over!! Over the weekend during tummy time, I noticed her pushing her chest up really high in the air and it almost looked as if she was about to roll over a few times. Most kids don't actually roll over until about 4-6 months. She's already imitating sounds too, which most babies don't usually do until around 5 months. What a smart little girl! On a sad note, I think she may be in the starting phases of teething. She is drooling a lot and wants to bite on everything!

Emily sitting with daddy
Emily was able to sit up straight (with assistance from daddy of course) and watch TV with us on the couch. It was so cute when the movie all of the sudden got really loud and Emily nearly jumped off the couch. She is jumpy just like her mommy. She is able to hold her head up for a short while now. It was so hard to get her attention for this picture since her eyes were glued on the TV!

Sleeping through the night
Well, for the last two nights Emily slept for 10 1/2 to 11 1/2 hours. That is awesome! I hope this continues. Maybe she was just having a little growth spurt and needed a little more food. She definitely looks like she got bigger for sure. I just grow to love this little girl more and more each day. She is just so precious and brightens my world.

Back to getting up during the night again
Well, Emily is back to waking up during the night again. Hopefully, she'll go back to sleeping 10 hours a night so mommy can get her beauty rest too. She gets so excited when I turn the lights on and she has an opportunity to look around at everything.

Getting ready to go to daycare
Well, they say babies thrive on routine. That certainly is true. Emily gets up around the same time everyday and goes to bed around the same time every night. She even starts getting sleepy around the same time. Every morning, she is happy and cheery around the same time. She loves to talk to mommy around this time too.

First day at day care!
Emily slept for over 10 hours last night! She must have sensed she would have a productive first day at day care today. She was so happy when I dropped her off and chatted away with all the staff there. It's so hard to leave her, but I know she's in good hands. I can't wait to see her tonight.

My little angel
Emily was just talking up a storm today when I was taking this picture. She is such a little chatterbox! She is cooing constantly and it's the cutest thing!

Finding another Childcare provider & Sleeping through the night
Last night was the first night Emily slept completely through the night! She slept for over 8 hours. I can't believe it! I needed the sleep so bad especially after only getting 5 hours the night before. We had a busy day today looking for a new child care provider for Emily. We narrowed it down to two amazing places and finally picked a place at a Christian school in Boca. The price is affordable, the place was spotless, and the cirriculum seemed to be great. They really had everything put together. I feel so much more at ease knowing she'll be getting the best possible care. It will still be hard to leave her, but I know she'll learn a lot and love it. She was all smiles today and just talked up a storm all day. She really is starting to find her voice. She's such a little chatterbox. It's so darn cute! Let's hope Emily sleeps through the night tonight too.

First day back to work
Well, today was my first day back to work. What an eventful day. I cried as I drove away and left Emily with the nanny. The day during work went by so incredibly slow as I was anxious to get back to Emily. It was nice to catch up with everyone again. After going to pick Emily up from the nanny, we uncovered a few surprises that made us uncomfortable with her watching Emily. Tomorrow, Dale & I took the day off from work to find a new day care center ASAP! We're super stressed since we want the best care for our daughter.

Attempting a new baby routine for Emily
Many of my friends rave about the Babywise routine where there are scheduled naps and feedings times throughout the day. I decided to give it a try. This website is amazing and has so much great information.

First night in crib
Well, Emily slept in her crib for the first time last night. Mommy was a nervous wreck! Hope this separation anxiety goes away soon. It's really starting to affect my sleep. The good news is Emily didn't seem to really be able to tell the difference. She falls right asleep.

She's getting so big!!
Wow, I can't believe how fast Emily is growing. I looked at her in the bassinet and realized she's not going to be in this thing much longer. She is just so tall!

Emily Smiling at daddy
Emily loves to smile. We finally caught it on camera! It's so hard to do especially since she does it so fast.

A happy baby in her crib
Emily had the biggest grin on her face when I put her in her crib. She's so alert. She looks around and kicks her legs. She is just so fascinated by everything around her. The look on her face was priceless.

Too tired for tummy time
Emily and I try to do tummy time every day as much as possible. She can already almost hold her head up. It's so amazing. She is such a big girl! Today, she was just too pooped to even think about tummy time. She just passed right out on the mat. Too cute!

Emily loves her carseat
Anytime we go anywhere in the car seat, Emily just about always falls right asleep. She just looks so comfy. We were sitting in the doctor's office here and she was taking a little snooze.

Big Stretches!
Every time Emily wakes up, she does the biggest stretches for about 10 minutes. It's the cutest thing. She twists her whole body around. I think she gets that from mommy. I love to stretch too. :)

Changing sleep patterns
I'm so proud of Emily. She went to sleep all on her own like a big girl without mommy rocking her to sleep! We've been having trouble getting her to go to sleep before 2:30 in the morning. We used to rock her to sleep with noise in the background, the lights on, etc. This time, we tried something a little different. We turned off the lights, turned off the TV, swaddled her tight, turned on her sound machine, and laid her down without rocking her to sleep. She was asleep within 5 minutes and stayed asleep for nearly 5 hours straight!! I can't believe it. She's such a great baby. It'll be so nice to get her on a normal sleep schedule again.
Mommy and me class
Today Emily and I went to our mommy and me class. It's so nice to talk with other moms who went through some of the same things I did. There is a lactation consultant and registered nurses there that are really great and helpful. Emily enjoys interacting with the other babies too. She fits right in!

Graduating out of newborn clothes
Well, Emily has officially graduated out of her newborn outfits and is now wearing 0-3 month clothes. She's almost too big for her bassinet already. I can't believe how fast she's growing. She's very close to being in Size 1 diapers too. I just love her pudgy little cheeks!

Enjoying tummy time - 3 weeks 1 day old
The doctor suggested that we do "tummy time" with Emily as often as possible to strengthen her neck muscles and keep her head from becoming too flat. The average baby is able to hold their head up around 3 months old. Emily is already starting to hold her head up. That is so amazing. She is excelling so fast I can't believe it. She was just talking up a storm until she found her thumb to suck on. :)

Snuggling with mommy and daddy - 2 weeks 1 day old
This little girl just loves to snuggle and be held. Her favorite spot is right on your shoulder. Laying on her belly helps with her gassy tummy.

2 week checkup
Emily had her two week checkup appointment with the pediatrician today. Poor little girl screamed at the top of her lungs after having her first hepatitis shot. Mommy's eyes started to tear up just seeing how much pain she was in. On a good note, she gained almost a whole pound since her birth and now weighs 6 lbs 2 oz. We were really worried that maybe she wasn't getting enough to eat, but it turns out, she's getting plenty.

Week 2
This marks the first official entry in the story section of Emily's website. It's amazing how quickly little girls learn to wrap their dad around their little fingers. We both would do anything for this little girl and love her so much.
The first week was especially hard with me recovering from surgery and with everyone getting adjusted to the new baby. Mom & dad came to stay with us for about 2 weeks to help out. It's a working progress, but we're slowly learning how to tend to Emily and keep her happy. There are so many little things she does that melts our hearts - the way she loves to cuddle up to you when falling asleep, the way she puckers her bottom lip when she's sleeping, the cute little noises she makes when she's awake, the way she laughs just before she's about to fall asleep. Dale says she makes a "popeye face" that makes him laugh every time. She didn't like it at first, but now she loves to lay on your shoulder. And boy is this one strong little girl! She kicks her feet a mile a minute when she's fussy. Dale calls them little karate kicks. She is already looking at objects around her and is trying very hard to hold her head up. What great progress for just a little over a week old!
